Hello there Citizen Scientists, Gadget Freaks and Hobbyists of all types!
I’m a retired research and development chemist who still enjoys messing around with all things scientific and this has become a sort of hobby for me in recent years. In addition to walking Vega, my beloved Blue Heeler doggy who is shown in full flight in the above picture, these days will find me playing around with spectrometers, light sources and lasers, different chemical reagents and optical and electronic gadgets of various kinds that can measure and record scientifically relevant data.
Looking back, I suppose I was promoted into management roles much too soon in my long and varied career in R&D organisations. Job promotions and more money were very welcome, of course, but this invariably meant me leaving the laboratory environment. This is one possible reason why I still love lab work and dabbling in chemistry and physics experiments. Now that I am retired, I can get back to my “home lab” at any time and continue having fun!
Just remember… Never stop exploring and experimenting. Life is too short !
I hope you enjoy the various blog posts. Do feel free to contact me if you are even a little curious about chemistry and have any questions or comments concerning any of these posts.
